My library program mission statement is designed to encourage 21st century learners to understand and effectively use information to explore, create and communicate ideas; to effectively and responsibly use technology; to create National School Library Standards aligned lessons that promote higher level, critical thinking and collaboration; and finally to develop independent lifelong learners with a love for knowledge and reading.

• I have over 30 years of teaching experience in the school library setting. 
• I began my teaching career in 1987 in the Prince George’s County Public Schools.
•  In August of 1992, I was hired by the Calvert County Public Schools and am currently the School Librarian at Sunderland Elementary School, a 2017 National Blue-Ribbon School Award winner.

HONORS:

•  Teacher of the Year at Patuxent Elementary School in 1995
•  Teacher of the Year at Sunderland Elementary School in 2013. 
•  Washington Post Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award winner for Calvert County in 2014. 
• Finalist for 2019 School Librarian of the Year Award

MY HOME LIFE:

• I come from a very large family. I have four brothers and four sisters and we meet regularly. I have a wonderful husband and son, a cat and our two fish from SES, Billy-Bob and Bubbles!
