Policies and Procedures

GENERAL INFORMATION...

STAFF: Your Librarian, Mrs. Jenkins, is available when you come to the library! You may see another staff member at the desk... Please feel free to ask them for help as well!

GENERAL CIRCULATION POLICY: Regular collection and paperbacks - 2 weeks (14 days)! Items may be renewed unless they are in high demand and/or have been specifically requested by another student. Students will be responsible for lost or damaged items that they check out. Students may check out up to five items at once. A special request can be submitted to Mrs. Jenkins to increase individual number of check-outs! :-)

  • Reference - Overnight or special due date check-out.  
  • Reserved books - In library use only for specific teacher assignments or projects.
  • Periodicals - Magazines (back issues) - 1 week and some old issues are free to take

SERVICES:

COPIER - There is a copy machine available for student use. The cost to make copies is $.10 per page.

PRINTER - Students may print documents while in the Media Center. The cost to print is $.10 per page for black and  white and $.25 per page for color only for items that are NOT school work. Please feel free to print, but make sure you save your work to O365. Also, please preview all print jobs so you will know how many pages will print. 

COMPUTERS - The Media Center has a few computer workstations for student use. All workstations can be used to access the Internet or use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access. There are charging stations at the tables around the library for you to charge your laptop or phone. You can also use Destiny to search for books by title, subject, author, keyword. You should connect your device to the CCPS public Wi-Fi.

INTERNET USE - Internet use during class time should be for schoolwork only. All Internet sites you visit should be school appropriate. As stated in your CCPS Internet agreement form, the following are off limits at PHS:

  • Chat Rooms
  • Bulletin Boards
  • Non-educational games
  • Shopping

During class you must have a pass from a teacher to use the library. Please come in and join us during one-hour lunch - no pass required!
