How to Get Started with Sora from Overdrive
Access audiobooks and eBooks anytime, anywhere for free with Sora, the student reading app.
Step 1
Install the Sora app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or go to https://soraapp.com
Step 2
In Sora, find your school (Calvert County Schools), then select Calvert County Schools (6-12).
Step 3
Log in with your school ID (ex: s12345@calvertnet.k12.md.us) followed by your password.
Step 4
Browse the Explore tab and borrow a book. Your book will open so you can start reading right away.
Step 5
View your Shelf to see all your books (including assignments).

National Academies Press - Books published by the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Research Council are available for free download. The site still sells its print titles, but a search will reveal links to download, skim or read online any of their 4,000 titles.
Project Gutenberg - Project Gutenberg offers over 46,000 free eBooks: choose among free epub books, free kindle books, download them or read them online.
HathiTrust Digital Library - A searchable catalog of digital books from university libraries, most of which are in the public domain.
Google Books - Rarely are full text titles available, but portions of a book will often carry the day for a student (or lead them to get the rest of it at the library).
Open Book Publishers - Founded in 2008 by a small group of academics at the University of Cambridge, Open Book Publishers publishes monographs and textbooks in the Humanities and Social Sciences. All books are available to read for free online.
