Policies and Procedures


STAFF: The library staff is here to help you with all your research projects and other assignments. Your Librarian, Mrs. Gillis is available when you come to the library! You may see a student aid at the desk... Please feel free to ask them for help as well!

CIRCULATION POLICY: Regular collection - 2 weeks (14 days)! Items may be renewed unless they are in high demand and/or have been specifically requested by another student. Students will be responsible for lost or damaged items that they check out. Students may check out up to three items at once. A special request can be submitted to Mrs. Gillis to increase individual number of check-outs! :-) 

  • Reserved books - In library use only for specific teacher assignments or projects.
  • Newspapers - Use in Media Center and old issues are free to take.

COPIER - There is a copy machine available for student use. The cost to make copies is free for school work.

PRINTER - Students may print documents while in the Media Center. The cost to print is $.10 per page for black and  white and $.25 per page for color only for items that are NOT school work. Please feel free to print, but make sure you save your work to O365. Also, please preview all print jobs so you will know how many pages will print. 

COMPUTERS - The Media Center has many computer workstations for student use. All workstations can be used to access the Internet or use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access. You can also use Destiny to search for books by title, subject, author, keyword. Feel free to connect to the CCPS public Wi-Fi on your device.

INTERNET USE - Internet use during class time should be for schoolwork only. All Internet sites you visit should be school appropriate. As stated in your CCPS Internet agreement form, the following are off limits at NHS:

  • Chat Rooms
  • Bulletin Boards
  • Non-educational games
  • Shopping

During class you must have a pass from a teacher to use the library. Please come in and join us during yourr lunch - a lunch pass is required!
